A flash of red caught his eye. There weren’t that many red-heads around after all. “Hux! We need to discuss–” his vocoder voice cut off mid sentence as he finally got a decent look at the man. It wasn’t the General, but… “How…? Who are you?” he demanded. -kylocanyounot

Techie froze and felt ice run through his veins. Why is Kylo Ren, of all people, talking to him?! The blood is pulsing so hard in his ears that he doesn’t even know what the man is saying, and can only stare blankly at him.

“Um, ah,” he says, very intelligently.

And then bolts for the nearest exit.

Techie thought for a moment, then a slow smile bloomed on his lips. “I have an id-idea. Will y-you come by my room in th-three days?” He seemed proud of himself but a little unsure, too.

Kylo’s brows came together, confused, but as far as he knew he would have no other obligations in three days.

“I suppose I could. Is something happening then?”

No one asked Kylo to come visit. It wasn’t something people wanted.

“Yep,” Techie chirps, eyes bright. “W-wear something extra nice, al-alright?” He gives Ren a little pat on the arm. “I h-have to get back to work. I’ll see you then?” His smile is especially vibrant.

“Shouldn’t you get some sleep?” But the man knew more than he did about what he could and couldn’t handle sleep wise.

“Three days then.” Did he even have anything nice? Why did he want him to dress up? But Kylo was curious.

“I’ll sleep when I’m d-dead,” he smiled. Silently, Techie added, “Which won’t be anytime soon, if I have anything to say about it.

Techie waited anxiously in his quarters for Ren. He’d triple-checked his handy list and found nothing was missing, there weren’t any especially dangerous fire hazards, and everything was in place. Perfect.

He tightened his crisp red bow tie and waited.
