Techie froze and felt ice run through his veins. Why is Kylo Ren, of all people, talking to him?! The blood is pulsing so hard in his ears that he doesn’t even know what the man is saying, and can only stare blankly at him.
“Um, ah,” he says, very intelligently.
And then bolts for the nearest exit.
There’s something in his eyes that begs Ren not to probe further. One more little push and Techie is certain he’ll say something he shouldn’t. “Let’s eat some c-cake,” he offers instead, anxious.
Somehow he catches the hint. But it only adds to he questions.
“I’ve never had much cake. Maybe twice before? Homemade stuff. Nothing with so much color, though. Or, lack of, I guess?”
He cuts a slice and puts it onto a paper plate with a sunflower-themed trim. As he sticks a plastic spoon into the cake’s icing and hands it to Ren, Techie asks, “Do you like cake though? I’d h-hate to make you something you don’t like!”
Inwardly, he wondered why sadness flickered on Ren’s face when he gave him the wire figures…
