“Th-that’s when I’ll be able to sneak you out for good. Anything b-before that, and we, uh, run the risk of getting caught. You’ll have to trust me on this, okay?” He was already on edge; having Nao mistrust him too would make this unbearable. “For now, you’ll stay here. With me.”
Trust? How could she trust him? It was an impossible request she refused to fulfil. ‘No way will I trust you.’ She thinks to herself. Trusting no-one was by far a much safer option.
“It’s not like I can go anywhere else. Got a place I can hide in? A box will do.”His eyes boggled. She was small, sure, but… a BOX? Still looking a little surprised, he said carefully, “Y-you can take my bed. I don’t sleep in it much anyways…” It was a lie, but a kind one. Nao was probably more exhausted than he was.
The prospect of a bed was tempting, exceptionally tempting. She hadn’t slept in a proper bed in a considerable amount of time. In fact she wasn’t sure if she could remember what a bed felt like let alone what it was like to sleep in one. “Oh…” She paused, understanding that she would need to thank him and feeling reluctant to do so. “Uhm. Y’know. Thanks.” She looked away, sheepish.
“I have a s-sonic too, if you want to get cleaned up. Um, you don’t have to worry that I’ll, er, peek or anyth-thing, I don’t like women all that much, a-and I wouldn’t do that anyways…” Techie’s face lit up like a flashlight. What an embarrassing thing to say to someone he’d just met! But whenever he got nervous around people like this, it was one blunder after another with no end in sight.
