With a sigh of relief, Techie closes his eyes. “I’ll try,” he promises. Recovery is never an easy road. “When I’m b-better, can you show me around? Can I m-meet your friends?”
He’s worried and scared, that much is true. But a new start? That’s priceless. Techie resolves not to screw it up. He’ll make nice with all of Armitage’s friends and coworkers.
“I think I was the closest th-thing to a droid at Peach Trees,” Techie admits, eyes never leaving the droid. He seems lighter, less frail. “Could I really h-have this little guy? Wh-what’s it’s name?”
He slides off the cot and crouches before the beeping droid, looking it over with a small, sincere smile. Somebody sort of like me, Techie thinks, and feels less alone.
