Techie swallows hard. “Will you be b-back to visit me until I can leave the m-medbay?” He can’t bring himself to believe all this, actually. So many good things have never happened to him at once! The possibility that this is all a dream is too scary to consider, but his hold tightens on Hux’s sleeve all the same.

“I’m r-ready,” Techie smiled, and regretfully pulled away from his brother’s warm embrace. He’d already dressed in some simple, clean clothes, and he didn’t have anything to take with him. So Techie was ready to check out his new room!

Hux smiled and led his brother down some corridors to get him to the room. MD-38 followed them dutifully, unwilling to let Techie out of his sight.

They passed a couple of indifferent stormtroopers until a cloaked, mask, dark figure stopped them close to Hux’s quarters. “Hux,” he said. “I’ve been looking for you.” He glanced at Techei and fell silent for a moment.

“Not now, Ren,” Hux replied, irritated. “I am somewhat busy. Send me a request for a meeting to my datapad like everyone else.”

“Did you clone yourself? Did you actually make good on that threat you keep making?” Ren asked, seemingly not hearing Hux’s response.

Techie shrank under Ren’s heavy, accusational gaze and took a step behind Hux instinctively. His eyes whirred frantically as they darted from Ren’s face to the ground, unsure of where to look.

Yet, despite his terror, the comment stung. A clone? Techie was his own person! “I’m n-not a clone,” he said, careful to keep any irritation out of his voice.

This man made goosebumps break out all over his skin; surely he was dangerous.
