“Do you think you c-could… scope out the, um, situation? See what he th-thinks of me? If… If I had to ask, I’d die!” Techie held himself in a protective hug, hands on his shoulders and crossed over his chest. “I’m a l-little scared he won’t like me back, but… it’s b-better to know than to wonder. R-right?” He didn’t look so sure.

“I suppose so,” he said slowly. The idea of asking Kylo Ren, Master of the Knights of Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke’s apprentice if he liked his brother was a little surreal. But what he wouldn’t do for family?

“I will let you know.”

“Thank you, Armie! In the m-meantime, I’ll be extra nice to him.” Techie gives a dopey grin and nearly does a little dance with joy.

“This is g-good! So exciting! I’ve never, um, even had the hope of having somebody like me. Before now!”

“I’m glad you feel so good now,” Hux smiled. There was an inkling of anxiety forming inside of him. He hoped the knight wouldn’t break his brother’s heart and spirit. Oh, he would talk with him to make sure this didn’t happen. “Don’t you worry. Now is… Is a time for all new possibilities for you. You’ll see.”

A few days later, Techie anxiously held a datapad to his chest, waiting for the telltale chime that would signal the completion of Hux’s “mission”. While Hux hadn’t said if he’d come by in person or contact him some other way, Techie hoped it wouldn’t be a physical meetup. He looked like a mess right now, the suspense keeping him on edge and without much sleep.
