eliza-rosies:

His face is pressed into the crown of Ren’s hair. He can smell the faint smell of burning leaves and melting snow. His hands encircled Ren’s middle and keep him in the place. Hux is probably the only who is in the state when he can feel more than just cold touch of snowflakes. The heat is coming from underneath the centre, burns under his feet. When he holds his breath, he can hear the planet breaking apart.

He holds Ren a little closer after that. Was is really worth it? he asks himself and they both fall on the ground. Ren is barely conscious. The blood is spilling out of the wound on his side. Hux wonders if it wouldn’t be merciful to kill him now, but he is a selfish man. He presses a kiss against the feverish skin. It’s too cold for them to be outside.

Last night he promised Ren victory and tonight he’ll lead him to the mouth of hell. Hux’s heart shatters. There was so much he wanted to do, so many words to conquer. He looks around, sees the flames of the power he once controlled. Now it has no care for its master.

Ren whimpers under his touch. “Shh,” shushes him Hux gently. Too gently maybe, but there is no one to witness such act. “Soon it will be over.”

“Hux,” whispers Ren. His face is pale, eyes intense.

The wind plays with Hux’s hair. He fixes his fingers. Those last moments between two of them are unlike any others. They are quiet. The only sound is breathing. In hose last moments Hux finds out that there are no words left. He watches as his creation destroys itself. He hugs Ren closer.

“Do you think I can be forgiven for all I’ve done?” rasps out Ren. His cheeks are wet. Hux presses a last kiss to his lips.

“I believe so,” he says and closes his eyes. “I know it.”

The planet crumbles under their feet. In the end, none of them feels the cold anymore.
