looking back on old Kylux art, it’s amazing how the fandom’s perception of Hux has shifted from him being a hyper-competent, calculated, domineering asshole to this manipulative, vain, messy little…well, squig? and I take no issues with that, but whenever I see this encouraged by canon I think: man, some ppl must HATE this development

Disney can pry competent Hux from my cold, dead hands…

Honestly, same.

I mean, he can still be vain and manipulative, but don’t tell me my boy doesn’t know how military maneuvers work.

Tbh considering Kylo knows Hux tried to kill him and he has to bring him along everywhere despite not wanting to just so Hux can’t betray him, yet Kylo STILL keeps him alive despite already hating him for personal reasons, I feel like there’s more evidence for competent Hux than ever. Because he has to be absolutely pivotal for the functioning of the Order to be worth keeping alive at this point

Same, I hate it, well just the part about being incompetent because I don’t mind him being vain and manipulative. Still we mostly have the perspective of old imperial relicts like Canady or Peavey or people loyal to Brendol who must be biased. And well Kylo’s but he hates him (still he must value him because he wouln’t want to impress him otherwise). Hux lacks experience and is too hotheaded because of his age, but effective despite that. He had some slips here and there, but Snoke wouldn’t make him basically grand marshal without a title if he was completely useless.
We need young officers’ and Phasma’s opinions on him.
