Star Wars Shipping Survey – Calling all shippers!

COMPLETE THE SURVEY HERE

Calling all Star Wars shippers! I’ve been percolating on an interesting idea over the last week, and I’m looking for input from the Star Wars shipping community to help me flesh it out. Essentially, I want to conduct some research into the history of shipping as a fannish activity in the Star Wars fandom.

This survey was built with the goal of getting input from as wide a range of shippers as possible, going right back to people who jumped on the Han/Leia train after seeing Star Wars for the first time in 1977 through to fans negotiating the romantic prospects of Finn, Rey, Poe and Kylo Ren in 2018.

This is just a preliminary survey intended to gauge the landscape and get a range of responses – the Star Wars shipping landscape is very broad, and I do not want my research to focus on any single ship or period of fandom history.

While the nature of Tumblr and my follower base means I expect the majority of the responses to this to be from people who entered the Star Wars shipping scene with the sequel trilogy movies, I am extremely interested in hearing from anyone who was involved in the fandom from the start (whether through zines or snail mail) and those who were active in the early days of the internet and were sucked in through the romantic entanglements of the prequel trilogy. If you know any more established fans with these kind of experiences, please do pass a link to this survey on to see if they’d be interested in taking part.

Nonetheless, if you’re a shipper in the Star Wars community, I welcome your response – whoever you ship, and whenever you started shipping. No ship is too small, and no experience is too trivial! At the end of the survey you have the option of leaving your contact details if you are happy for me to reach out with follow-up questions, but this is strictly optional and you do not need to leave contact information unless you are happy to be contacted.
