Those of you who know the anime series “Revolutionary Girl Utena” might recognize the design … I listened to the Utena Soundtrack a lot while working on this since I still adore the series and especially the soundtrack to this day … I don’t normally go for heavily stylized pictures, but here it seemed fitting. ❤

This weekend’s been crazy for every Kylux fan – you know what I’m talking about, haha!
I’m feeling pretty exhausted right now, but I was burning with a need for soft marriage Kylux with them wearing something that isn’t a tuxedo – so decided on traditional Japanese wedding Hakama for these two. I think they suit them very well.
This picture took about ~50 minutes in SAI. Tweaked it a bit in Photoshop afterward.
This is the most intricate picture I’ve drawn in a long time. I used references for Hux’ and Ren’s poses and the instruments respectively since I would have been utterly lost otherwise. I have no idea how to properly hold a cello OR a violin. %”))))))
The idea for this piece was simply: “I want to draw these men looking handsome and melancholic playing instruments that look aesthetically pleasing as well”, it’s that simple. I find string instruments very beautiful in regards to optics and sound. Additionally, I wanted to give Kylo combat boots that go all the way up to his knees because I really like the contrast that the boots create with the cello and his facial expression. It really fits his character, I think. I did a video recording of me coloring this piece, I hope I can edit and upload it soon – speedpaint videos are always so much fun to do!
I am thinking about doing a small fanzine with Kylux fanart – it’s been a dream of mine forever, and with these two I think I might be passionate enough to finally do it. If I do, I would likely choose this picture as the cover art.
