[Swing AU] Hux walked into the band’s rehearsal space when he heard someone playing a saxophone- only to find it was Techie, playing beautifully like no one’s business. “Techie, how did you get in here?! Where did you get that saxophone?!”

Techie squeaked and almost dropped it, catching it again and steadying it upon his lap. “H-Hux! I, ah, I j-just- wanted t-to try it,” he said weakly, eyebrows scrunched up together.

After a little pause, he asked, cautiously optimistic, “W-was I any g-good?”

His eyes grew wide. “Oh, oh-! Shit! Y-you’re right! P-please don’t tell the boss, I was only g-gonna be in here for a f-few minutes but I l-lost track!”

Techie scrambles to put the sax away where he got it from and make sure he didn’t leave his toolbox around anywhere. He seems to realize what Hux just said and stops to stare at him, eyebrows raised. “Y-you’d let me in the b-band?”

“P-please! Don’t h-hurt me, I’ll, I’ll do anyth-thing!”

Kylo looked down at the man, he sneered a bit. He knelt down to his level and gave a small smirk “Anything? You mean that do you? What do you have to offer me, pathetic man?” he held his hair to make him look at him in the eyes. 

Techie’s pupils were blown open so wide that they *ached*. They wouldn’t stop their quiet hum, and he was hyperaware of every point of contact between them.

“You m-must be l-losing it, Kylo,” Techie gulps, nervous now for a totally different reason than ever before. “My h-hands are s-so scarred and c-calloused…” He runs the rough pad of his thumb over Ren’s knuckles; softly, gently.

Sarah’s cheeks turned as red as tomatos. “I’d love that” she sighed. She got up on he cot near him, being very careful not to touch him in fear she may accidentally hurt him. “T-techie, I-if you want…I c-can cuddle you.” She offered “but I understand if you don’t want to” sarah herself had never really cuddled anyone, but she felt safer that techie was with her.

He laughed softly and said, “I’m n-not sure if I can cuddle when I’m h-held down like this! But I w-want to.” He bit his lip and turned the same shade of red as Sarah. “Maybe t-tr-try untying my right arm? The n-nurse lowered my dosage before you came s-so it sh-should be fine.”

Techie doesn’t even know how he does it (he’s on autopilot, thinking only of his daughter) but he ends up with a stolen vehicle and the coordinates he’d read on the console running through his mind in a rush of numbers:

Hang on, Addie, he thinks as he speeds to her rescue. I’m coming.

A flash of red caught his eye. There weren’t that many red-heads around after all. “Hux! We need to discuss–” his vocoder voice cut off mid sentence as he finally got a decent look at the man. It wasn’t the General, but… “How…? Who are you?” he demanded. -kylocanyounot

Techie froze and felt ice run through his veins. Why is Kylo Ren, of all people, talking to him?! The blood is pulsing so hard in his ears that he doesn’t even know what the man is saying, and can only stare blankly at him.

“Um, ah,” he says, very intelligently.

And then bolts for the nearest exit.

“I’m, uh, having some t-trouble,” Techie admits and fixes his gaze on Ren’s face, cautiously observing. He’d heard horror stories about this man and all he’d done, but at the moment he seemed… A little kind?

It was a surprise, a pleasant one, and Techie decided he must be in a very good mood indeed if he’s treating his rival’s brother well.

“I w-would appreciate y-your help,” he says, realizing Ren had lessened the stream of peace. Techie wilts a little but does not complain.
