Techie and Adeline Hux [Closed] [Part 3]

He shakes his head, pretending to be deep in thought. “P-prove it to me!”

Then he drops his head down to give her a good look at his hair. “Any gray h-hairs?” He knew for a fact he had some from stress, but for the sake of the game he would play the fool.

She giggled “no papa no gray hairs”

He made a show of rolling his eyes. “I th-think you need glasses, A-addie, but whatever!” With that, he gave her a noogie and got out of bed. “I’m going to take a, uh, s-sonic and get ready for w-work, okay? Stay out of t-tr-trouble!”

“I’m sorry techie, I forgot you weren’t used to affection. I’ll warn you next time.” She walked back, feeling a bit bad. “My quarters are two doors in front of mitaka’s if you still want to help me. I’ll make you dinner too. What kind of food do you like?”

He wrings his hands together, shifting on the balls of his feet. “S’alright,” he replies, and he means it. Sarah is nice; he knows she won’t hurt him (although years of MaMa’s torture makes his body react as if he thinks otherwise).

“That s-sounds fun, but I’m really t-tired right now. M-maybe tomorrow?” He tilts his head slightly and a few strands of hair fall over his left eye. It makes a quiet whirr as it looks through his hair at you.

Mitaka sighs defeatedly as his broken data pad breathes it’s last breath in the middle of his report to the general. Which is due in the morning. He grabs his communicator and puts in a request for a technician to come look at it.

techiehux:

Techie hadn’t been having a good day. Not at all. Matt was nowhere to be found, Hux was busy doing who knows what, and his supervisor, Leslie, absolutely hated his guts. Which was why he jumped at the chance to get away from the monotony (and Leslie’s whining), accepting a recently requested job he hadn’t even looked at.

The last thing he expected was to find himself outside Lieutenant Mitaka’s quarters and realize he left his toolbox…somewhere? But it was too late to go find it, he’d knocked on the door and now it was opening!

They passed a few maintenance workers gossiping in a lounge. The cafeteria is still some ways off. Was it to the right or the left? His head’s so clouded by fear he doesn’t remember.

“Uh, sure,” Techie says, steadying his words as best as he can. He can’t handle more embarrassment today!

People stare at their intertwined hands as they walk by. Without realizing it, Techie starts to walk faster. Anything to get out from their gaze.

It suddenly occurs to him that Mitaka hasn’t even mentioned his eyes, or his stringy, greasy hair, or *anything* that most people tease him about. What the hell?

He tries to express this to him, but all he can manage as they walk through the corridor is, “Th-this doesn’t h-happen to me,” which probably makes the whole situation even more odd.

Leave it to Techie to make a cryptic statement and then have anxiety swell up his throat so he can’t follow it up with something more sane.

Sitting up with a silly grin on his face, he went to kiss the top of her head. “Did you sleep well?” He stretched out his arms wide and his joints popped.

“Fuck,” he laughed. “I’m getting old, huh?” Realizing he’d cursed, he adds a quick, “Sorry, Addie!”

Nobody has ever *wanted* to touch Techie before. He’s totally shocked, eyes whirring noisily as they focus and refocus again on Mitaka’s sweet face. It’s a little overwhelming, being asked by a superior to hold hands just minutes after meeting them, but holding hands is… so nice. And the young Lieutenant doesn’t seem like a scary guy, so, shyly, Techie reaches out and slots their hands together.

His hand is warm and a little sweaty but Techie’s is too, and a blush rises high on his cheeks.

This is beyond strange. He likes it.

“Uhm, oh- okay, let me b-backtrack and see if I c-can find out where I l-left them,” he stutters, flustered. He’d stopped at the cafeteria on his way here to grab a small breaded pastry (he didn’t know what it was; only that he hadn’t eaten in two days).

“Th-the cafeteria,” he says, “Maybe.”

Techie jumps back in surprise when the Lieutenant starts to cry. His hand hovers awkwardly at his side, wanting to comfort him but unsure of how the other man would react. “Um, I, I c-can fix it-”

Techie rests his fingers gently on Mitaka’s shoulder, thinking: Screw it. I don’t think this day can get worse anyways.

“B-but if Hux gives you tr-t-trouble just let me know and I’ll talk to h-him,” he promises, removing his hand before it gets weird. Techie takes the datapad and bites his bottom lip, thinking.

Mitaka should not be left alone right now. He looks distressed. So Techie says, “I a-accidebtally left my t-tools. Can you c-come with me to find th-them?”

“Oh and by the way techie”, sarah planted a small, soft kiss on techies lips. “Happy national kissing day” she turned bright red. “Sorry I didn’t ask permission”

If Techie could have made a sound exactly like a bunch of exclamation points, he would have. His face turned tomato red and all he could say was an incomprehensible mumble. Finally he gently picked up your hand and kissed the top of it, prince style.

“Happy N-national Ki-k-kissing Day,” he squeaked, unable to meet your gaze.
