Armitage Hux and Ben Solo used to be friends many years ago, but they haven’t seen each other in a while. Some years later, Hux is asked to participate in some TV game show and he is more than a bit surprised to find Ben -now Kylo Ren- there. Both of them are in it for the money, but they may be another prize.
I think it’s actually none of the above. It’s how sometimes Hux will glance around after Ren when he leaves a meeting, just following his with his eyes for a few extra moments. It’s the moments when Ren moves over just an inch or two to let Hux share the space at the front of the bridge.
It’s the way that Hux always meets Ren when he comes back from a mission, and the way that Ren never does, because he knows Hux needs time to write up his reports. It’s the space they give each other, and the space between them that is what someone really looking would notices, and it’s what makes their relationship more than just convenience.
