There was so much he wanted to say after a year of not having seen Adeline, but everything felt clogged up in his throat. Finally he settled for a lame “How have you b-been?” It was flat to even his own ears.

Frustrated, Techie waited outside and refused to leave until they finished up and came out.

Addie was finally released from training she went to a room and gave him the look of I have to meditate on my training.

Techie’s hopefuly smile vanished. “Addie, h-hey… Can I talk w-with you?” He wrung his hands and watched her closely.

Techie’s brows furrowed. “I get that maybe now isn’t th-the best time for it, but I’m her father and I don’t need your *p-permission* to talk with Addie.” He was starting to get angry…

In the meantime, Techie had been working his ass off. He trained himself hard with blasters and raised his endurance. Every single day he thought of Adeline and resolved to be stronger to protect her.

It hurt him deeply to leave her with Kylo Ren, but he knew the man could protect her much better with the Force (something Techie could never do.)

He passed her in the hallways one day and tried to catch her attention.

Each of her cries stabbed his heart, HARD. She’s safe with Ren, he chants to himself, He’s got the Force so he can protect her. Not me. I’m just a big baby who can’t even take care of his family.

It becomes too much, and Techie chases after Ren and Adeline, shouting, “Wait! Wait! A-Addie! It’ll just be for a l-little bit! I’ll be back, I s-swear!”

Techie runs into Kylo Ren as he makes for his quarters with Adeline. “Oh! S-sir!”

Kylo looked at him “ your back early ”

Techie gives him an exhausted smile. “Thank the Force th-that we’re back at all,” he exclaims with a crazed, choked-back laugh. “Listen, I n-need you to take care of Adeline. She’s n-not… *safe* with m-me. Not anymore.”

Techie runs into Kylo Ren as he makes for his quarters with Adeline. “Oh! S-sir!”

“Th-thank you,” Techie said wearily, and then added, “Let General Hux know that his technician has returned.” He stands up from his seat, stretches, and ushers Addie out.
