Summary: Grand Marshal Hux is distraught when he discovers what kind of training Supreme Leader Ren is engaging in to keep himself bound to the dark side, and suspects the involvement of the deceased Snoke.

(sidenote: I recall reading this at the time and loving it. Not including it on the rec-list is purely my fault, but I cannot recommend this enough for the lovely writing and the sense of intimacy between Kylo and Hux- I kept on thinking about it for days. Revisiting it again today, it’ll no doubt stick in my mind again. If you’re still following this blog, I definitely recommend you give it a shot if you haven’t already!)

I love forgetting to answer prompts from months ago!

It happens too fast for Hux to process; between one breath and the next, Kylo has gone from kneeling at Hux’s side, head bowed in respect for their supreme leader, to sprawled out on the shining floor of the throne room, prone body twitching and convulsing in pain.

Colour drains from Hux’s face as the reality of the situation sinks in.

As if of their own accord, Hux’s feet move and in seconds he’s by Kylo’s side, dropping to his knees. He turns him over, threats one set of fingers through his hair while the others frantically check for a pulse. He finds one, thank the stars, and Hux lets out a shaking breath of relief, just in time for his sense to catch up with him.

He’s broken rank.

He’s shown his card.

Snoke is laughing.

An acrid cocktail of dread and anger pools in his stomach when he realises just how close that laughter is.

Snoke has left his throne, walked the length of the room to stand before the unconscious Ren, superiority likely etched into his grotesque features as he looks down upon both his failed apprentice and trembling general.

And Hux is trembling – but it’s not from fear.

The pure, white-hot rage Hux feels is like nothing he’s experienced before. Not even his own villainous father had been able to elicit this level of response from him. Hux is livid, and it’s with the fuel of that revulsion that he’s able to do what he does next.

With dangerous, steely eyes Hux looks up at their Supreme Leader. He stares into the smug, victorious eyes that glisten wetly down at him and hisses, “If you even think about touching him, I’ll kill you.”

Hux is shocked to realise he means every word. He has no idea how he’ll go about doing it, but he promises himself that the next time the Snoke touches his lover will be his last. After all, it won’t be the first time Hux is responsible for his superior’s demise.

To his credit, the Supreme Leader simply laughs, laughs in the face of the oncoming storm and returns to his throne, unbothered by his general’s threats.

where they may on his bed.

“Unblemished.”

His fingers burn a stripe from Hux’s hipbone to his neck.

“I never want to see you like this again.”

He grabs Hux under his jaw, hard enough to make Hux moan out
loud as his dick gives a traitorous leap against his stomach.

“I bruise easily,” Hux says.

more BenArmie from the deaf!Ben AU – except Ben doesn’t stay deaf because Hux uses a good chunk of his inheritance money (received on his 18th birthday) to pay for a cochlear implant for Ben💕 (cue many happy tears when Ben hears Hux’s voice for the first time)

this takes place soon after Ben is cleared from the hospital post-surgery:

“And this,” Hux murmurs, reaching to spread the fingers of Ben’s right hand over the black and ivory keys of the
grand piano, “is an A major chord.” He lowers his foot on the sustain pedal as
Ben presses down on the three keys, the chord ringing brightly in the air. Ben
smiles at the sound, fascinated. He does it again, and this time Hux smiles,
too.

They’re seated side by side on the piano bench, pressed together from shoulder to hip to thigh. The two of them together barely fit, but that hardly matters. Hux ends up half (or fully) in Ben’s lap most times anyway.

“Show me another.”

“Alright.”

Hux models the position for a G Major chord in a lower octave. Ben studies his hand position for a moment before mirroring it himself. Hux reaches over to correct a finger.

Ben would make a great pianist, he thinks. The boy’s got big hands, which means long fingers. His stretch might even rival Hux’s. The thought makes Hux hum, his fingers lingering over Ben’s. Distracted, he doesn’t anticipate Ben closing the distance between them to press a kiss to Hux’s cheek.

“Ben,” he chides, far from upset, but is interrupted when Ben leans in again and kisses Hux’s lips. Hux involuntarily presses down on Ben’s hand, and the G Major chord rings in the air. Ben smiles against his mouth.

“You are supposed to be learning,” Hux chastises gently, though he has yet to push Ben away. They’re still trading lazy kisses. A few seconds pass before Hux hears a clear C Major chord.

“I am learning,” Ben says, and Hux is a little impressed. Ben had done that by feel alone; his eyes are still closed, eyelashes fluttering against Hux’s. Then it hits him.

“You’ve been messing up your chords up until now on purpose so you’d have an excuse for me to touch you.”

Ben laughs into his mouth. “Guilty as charged.”

I’ve heard that the cochlear implant idea is a little upsetting for some people (one of the reasons being it makes Ben seem “cured”), and while I don’t aim to change anyone’s mind, I want to make it clear that it is Ben who ultimately decides to go through with the procedure. Yes, Hux offers to help pay for it, but he doesn’t try to pressure or guilt Ben into going through with it. he loves Ben, deafness and all, and would still love him if Ben had turned down the chance to hear again.
