[@general-gingerbowie] “Swing it,” Hux whispered dramatically

general-gingerbowie:

techiehux:

H"uh?“ Techie looks around frantically, hands up to his chest in tight, protective fists. “Swing? Swing wh-what??” That sounded like Hux, but Techie couldn’t understand where that voice was coming from. Hadn’t he been alone in his room just now?

“Nothing, I just felt like saying that,” Hux said, appearing in Techie’s doorway with a CD.

He swiveled around in his chair to face Hux and let out a relieved sigh. “Oh man, you scared m-me!” Noticing the CD in his hand, he asked, “Wh-what’s that?”

techiehux:

Techie was so shocked he could only stare at Phasma after the kiss, wide eyed. Kissing her hadn’t been part of his plan, or even crossed his mind, but now that it happened? There was no way he’d be thinking of anything else for weeks.

The tension drained from his shoulders, and he returned the hug. “Th-thank you, Hux. It means a l-lot to me…” Techie pressed a kiss to his brother’s cheek before pulling away, embarrassed. It wasn’t often he was affectionate.

Congrats? He’d only just met Phasma, and while the kiss was incredible and she seemed cool, this was too fast for him! They hadn’t even spoken properly to each other!

Techie gave an awkward lopsided smile, rigid and tense. He tried to use his brother senses to convey telepathically to Hux that maybe, just maybe, that hadn’t been the right thing to say…

Techie’s head spun to one side too quickly, and instead of Phasma’s kiss hitting his cheek, her lips brushed the edge of his mouth. Surprised, he jumped back and almost tripped, face aflame.

[Swing AU] Hux walked into the band’s rehearsal space when he heard someone playing a saxophone- only to find it was Techie, playing beautifully like no one’s business. “Techie, how did you get in here?! Where did you get that saxophone?!”

techiehux:

Techie squeaked and almost dropped it, catching it again and steadying it upon his lap. “H-Hux! I, ah, I j-just- wanted t-to try it,” he said weakly, eyebrows scrunched up together.

After a little pause, he asked, cautiously optimistic, “W-was I any g-good?”

At some point, they had to stop. It was too much; Techie’s voice rasped and throat ached, shockingly parched. He put his instrument down, they all did, as the wild applause died down. He smiled, utterly exhausted but proud.

Now at ease, he interjected his own solo to the musical mix; playing a complementary sound to fit with Hux and Phasma’s parts. His gaze kept flickering to Phasma, who sang so passionately. He admired her more than anything at that moment.

This time around, Techie played a rousing, joyful melody; notes high like the color on his cheeks. Whenever he could, he sent a little wink Hux’s way as a silent thank you.

He focused on Phasma’s angelic voice instead of their audience, until he was able to relax and get into the swing of it; playing his heart out with all the enthusiasm of before.
