Techie jumps up from the counter, horrified, and tries to duck into the crowd. This can’t be happening! All he can think is a stream of “holy shit holy shit holyshitholySHIT!”

It isn’t difficult to track that bright little spot of red hair, weaving through the crowd in a desperate panic.

With an irritated sigh, as if unable to fully grasp the fact that he could ever be put in such an absurd situation, Hux stalks after his brother with confident strides, the crowd, parting before him in a subconscious deferment to his natural aura of authority.

Not another step!

he commands, his voice booming through the room, sharp and piercing despite the din of the crowd and the wild music.

With a yelp, Techie crouches down on the floor and covers his head with his arms protectively, an instinct tightly held. He shakes as Hux approaches. “H-Hux… I’m sorry! I’m s-so s-sorry!”

In Techie’s mind, the best course of action is always to apologize profusely and hope the beating won’t be too bad. Whether there will be a beating or not this time is irrelevant. He’ll still cry and apologize (mostly out of habit).

“You’re tired,” he grinned, and shifted his weight off his arm long enough to take off his cloak and covered them both.

“Stay here. Rest. We can talk when you wake up,” he says, kissing the shell of his ear as he slotted behind him. “I’ll keep you warm,” he whispered.

Calmer now, Techie practically purrs and kisses the sensitive skin of Ren’s neck. “I have w-work in the morn-ning, and honestly he scares me… but if you want me to b-be there too, I will.” He’s looking at Kylo like he’s his entire world, pupils dilated and lopsided smile soft.

[Swing AU] Hux walked into the band’s rehearsal space when he heard someone playing a saxophone- only to find it was Techie, playing beautifully like no one’s business. “Techie, how did you get in here?! Where did you get that saxophone?!”

Techie squeaked and almost dropped it, catching it again and steadying it upon his lap. “H-Hux! I, ah, I j-just- wanted t-to try it,” he said weakly, eyebrows scrunched up together.

After a little pause, he asked, cautiously optimistic, “W-was I any g-good?”

The roars of applause and cheers gifted him some courage; he took Hux’s hand and stood up, wiping his red-rimmed eyes. “If I’m g-gonna go back out there… C-can I have you two close by? My legs are, uh, shaking r-really hard!”

The clock chimes twice in a seedy bar on the edge of town, where an uncomfortable-looking young man sits squished between two beefy patrons at the counter. He quietly nurses a drink and keeps to himself, strange blue eyes wandering around. He’s clearly out of his element, but that doesn’t stop him from searching for a warm body to go home with.

…Brother?

His expression is absolutely incredulous as he forces his way through the crowded bar, uncaring of whom he jostled or just how many stains he collected on his pristine, woolen coat.

My God, you’re… What are you doing here?

Helplessly, all he could do was nod, enthusiastic about the idea. Alone with a beautiful woman? Hell yes. Maybe not his preferred gender, but she made him feel safer. Less guarded. “Wh-where d’you wanna go?” he asks Sarah, color high on his cheeks. He doesn’t have anywhere to go, so hopefully she’ll say something other than his house.

Logically, Techie knew this was true. But the broken, scared part of him still screamed out in agony when he was too unguarded to keep it quiet.

“Can you talk to H-Hux in the morning?” he asked, a hopeful tone in his hoarse voice. “I don’t think I want to, um, be without you…” Techie admits shyly, tracing his thumb over Ren’s jawline. The sincerity and truth of the statement makes his throat close up. It’s scary to want to be with someone, too.

Blood rushed so fast up to his cheeks so fast he saw stars. Techie leaned into the kiss even more, mesmerized, and closed his eyes. Her lips felt divine! When they pulled apart for air, he felt jittery and strung up, but in a good way. “B-by all means, go ahead!” he laughed, and went in for another kiss.

He took deep, shuddering breaths against Hux until his breathing evened out and his sobs subsided into little hiccups. “I screwed up th-the song,” Techie frowned, but the weight on his chest lessened. Hux was here. He was okay, for now.

He broadcast, “I’m because Kylo is here,” loud and clear. Techie hoped he could hear it. Nothing about the Force made sense to him, but he could most certainly try.
