This was simple, perhaps too much. Techie blocked easily, grabbed his arm, and placed his open palm on Kylo’s stomach. Just like he’d been shown. He didn’t move his hand from that spot, watching him with bright eyes and asking, “Can we do it a l-little faster?”

“C-Cower and cry, probably.” Techie smiles apologetically. Those were always his first instincts. He puffs out his chest a little, to make himself seem bigger and tougher than he actually is. “Let’s try it, th-though. Punch me!”
He hopes Kylo will be gentle and slow… Techie’s reflexes are rusty. It’s been a while since he had to dodge a fist.
Kylo offered Techie a warm, encouraging smile and shook his head. “I am not going to punch you before you know how to best react,” he laughed. “Running away would work, I think, but I don’t recommend cowering and crying. If someone wants to hurt you, it will simply make it easier for them.” He stretched and walked up to Techie.
“Maybe you can try to punch me? I assure you I will block it, and you may see how that looks.”
“Okay.” Don’t screw this up, Me. Techie nods, determined. Once, twice; his fists tense and relax at his sides before the left one shoots forward to hit Kylo’s stomach. The angle is a little off, perhaps too curved. It’s too late to fix it.
Kylo smiled as he saw it, blocked the hit and grabbed the arm, pulling Techie closer and placing his own palm on his stomach.
“This is where I would punch you,” he explained, quite close to that lovely pale face. “Did you catch what I did? Or do you want me to show you step by step?”
“I think I’ve g-got it, but a demo wouldn’t hurt…”
There was one good thing about his eyes: they could follow movements -even quick ones- like nobody’s business. He’d seen Kylo’s block coming. The problem was getting himself to react fast enough to evade.
“Sure,” he said and moved away. He took Techie’s hand and slowly repeated his moves.
“See? Just like this, just much faster. Do you want to practice? Slowly?”
Techie nodded. “Sounds good.” He returned to his earlier position, fists up and expectant. Every time Kylo touched him, his chest felt tight and full of heat. A man could get addicted.

Techie placed his caf down on the ground and stood awkwardly before Kylo, scratching at his ankle with a sneaker. “Blasters!” He blurts out, after an uncomfortable silence where he tried to think about his near-nonexistent fighting skills. “I know h-how to shoot. Blasters. And… n-nothing else.” With a thick blue band, he ties his hair back into a long, loose ponytail and grimaces.
“I’m already not m-making this easy, huh?”

“F-first order of business: I have no interesting chatter from the s-security cams to report. I did just make a pun though,” Techie laughs before taking a sip of his caf. Deep breaths, boy. You can do this.
“Next item on the, um, l-list… I… want y-you to spar with me sometimes. Teach me a little f-fighting. Please! Obviously you can tell me f-fuck off and forget about it and I’ll leave you al-lone, but I want to be stronger so I’m n-not such a burden on Hux. He’s got enough to w-worry about without having a clumsy, inc-competent brother to look after.”
And if he could spend more time with Kylo Ren… well, Techie wouldn’t complain. Not even a little bit!
He shifted his weight from side to side, anxious for a response.
“Oh,” Kylo said, clearly surprised. “I don’t think sparring with me is the best idea. I don’t hold back. You’d just end up hurt.” He stopped his caf, and immediately regretted his response. Wouldn’t it mean he would have no reason to see this lovely mess of a person?
“I could train you instead, I suppose. If you’d like.”
His face lit up. “I- I would! Thank you! And… well, y-you’re right about the sparring! You’d toss me around l-like a ragdoll,” Techie grins, not really too put off by the idea. The thought of being tossed around (in a different context) makes him excited.
“I guess n-none of this needed to be said in person, huh? Honestly, I… r-really, um, enjoy your company.” He takes a sudden gulp of the caf as if to stop himself from giving a full-on confession.
Kylo gave Techie a surprised look, and then smiled slightly. “Really? Not many people seem to think that. I am glad you do, though.” The truth was, he enjoyed this nervous little man’s company, too. He couldn’t help but look forward to the training sessions.
“When do you want to start?”
“I h-have time. Now, I mean… but, er, if not just let m-me know when you’re av-available,” Techie says, carefully controlling his urge to melt into a puddle of starstruck red-head. The caf trembles a little in his hand.
